Bernard Wiczer, has practiced tax and securities law for 50 years, beginning his tax practice as a Certified Public Accountant. He has litigated complex tax and national securities cases (the first civil 10-b(5) Securities Exchange Act of 1934 action) nationwide.  He recently appeared as a “tax expert” on national television on the Fox News Hanity show. As a litigator he has represented plaintiffs in nationwide class actions, successfully litigating the first breast implant case and a variety of securities cases involving public companies.

His transactional experience has involved every aspect of tax and estate planning including estate and gift tax law and income tax planning for both national and foreign individuals and businesses.

His is an experienced maritime lawyer, having represented commercial shipping lines, shipyards, marinas and the pleasure boat industry for more than forty years.

He served as Vice-Chairman of the American Bar Association Bankruptcy Committee in recognition of his vast experience in Chapter 11 business reorganizations, bankruptcy and insolvency matters.

He began his career representing large publicly held corporations where he specialized in tax-free reorganizations, mergers, acquisitions and syndications, involving both publicly held and private companies. He has also litigated numerous partnership and small business disputes in both state and federal trial courts and courts of appeal.

Since 2001 he has been extensively involved in Indian Affairs and gaming law, representing Indian Tribes in Michigan, New York, Oklahoma and New Jersey.  He is an expert in litigation and dealing with the Federal Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Mr. Wiczer is a frequent lecturer on Estate Planning and Charitable Planned Giving. He teaches charting, navigation and basic maritime law for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Charitable endeavors include service on the boards of the Chicago Yacht Club Foundation (as legal counsel), Notre Dame High School for Girls (Planned Giving) and the Chicago Loop Synagogue in downtown Chicago where he serves as Chairman of the Board.

In his spare time he is a pleasure boater, licensed sea and land aircraft pilot, skier and scuba diver.
