Steven M. Marks joins Foreman Friedman, P.A. as a Senior Associate. Steven is a Miami native who has lived, worked and raised his family in South Florida. Steve initially entered the private practice of law in Miami as a sole practitioner. He has tried significant civil and criminal defense cases before juries, and the bench, in State and Federal Courts. The most recent of which was as lead trial counsel in defense of Florida Atlantic University, in a Whistleblower action, which resulted in a Defense jury verdict. He has handled mediations, and arbitrations in negligence, complex business, stock brokerage and real estate acquisition litigation; has tried and been a certified expert witness in property management litigations; handled all aspects of domestic relations mediation and litigation; county and city commission special use and zoning variance matters; authored partnership and trust agreements; handled probate matters; and negotiated employment contracts for numerous NFL players (two AllPros) as an NFLPA certified player agent. Steven’s primary legal practice areas are admiralty; maritime; negligence; insurance defense, catastrophic auto, truck and property accidents; commercial business; and, indemnity coverage opinions.
In addition to practicing law, Mr. Marks has extensive business experience. He was the chief executive officer and general counsel for the largest independent regional auto glass installer in the industry, with eight locations on the southeast and gulf coasts of Florida; vice president and chief operating officer of Akeena Solar, a Silicon Valley, NASDAQ traded solar energy company; and chief operating officer of Morris & Reynolds, Inc., a privately owned full service insurance agency.
